THROW THE FIGHT is a post-hardcore band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, in The United States, and founded in 2003.
The band released its latest album, Settle Your Sins via Bullet Tooth, on August 7th, 2020. The band returned to work with producers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland.
This CD is the follow-up of Transmissions, which has sold an impressive 15,000 copies worldwide since its release and landed on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.
Opía Magazine had the opportunity to chat with its lead guitarist, Ryan Baustert. He tells us about the band’s new material, about the band’s future plans and also about how they have faced this time of pandemic.
Tell us a little bit about this new material that the band gives us. Was it hard for you guys to do it?
Our latest release is “Going Numb”, a new single that was released on February 26th. Prior to that, we released an acoustic EP called, Inside Out. It was a different recording process for us in that we didn’t record in the studio together as a group. We all went in separately and tracked our parts on account of the pandemic.
How was it to be inactive during this pandemic? Would you consider it a productive time for the band?
It’s been a bummer not being able to tour, but it’s definitely been a productive time for us. We’ve doubled-down on recording and releasing music at a more frequent pace.
The band has now been active for 17 years. What was the best and worst of that trip?
The best part is definitely getting to travel the world playing music for people. As far as the worst, we’ve been fortunate enough that we haven’t had to deal with any major setbacks.
You are in the band since the beginning of your musical career. How does it feel to be the oldest member of the band?
Honestly, I never even think about it. Age is just a number.
What can we expect from the band in 2021?
A lot more music! We’re going back into the studio in a couple of weeks to start working on the next group of songs. We’ll have a new EP out later this spring, so be on the lookout for that!
